Strep Test

A rapid strep test involves swabbing the throat and running a test on the swab to quickly see if group A strep is causing the illness. If the test is positive we are able to provide you with an antibacterial prescription. Either penicillin or amoxicillin are recommend as a first choice for people, but other antibiotics can be used to treat strep throat in people who are allergic to penicillin. Symptoms may include:

  • Sore throat that can start very quickly

  • Pain when swallowing

  • Fever

  • Red and swollen tonsils, sometimes with white patches or streaks of pus

  • Tiny, red spots on the roof of the mouth

  • Swollen lymph nodes in the front of the neck

Other symptoms may include a headache, stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting — especially in children. People can get strep throat more than once, so having the infection does not protect you from getting it again in the future.

Flu Test

We start with a non-invasive nasal swab to collect the needed specimen. After that, we simply run the sample through the testing kit and after 15 minutes it will deliver the results. The test checks for both strains of Influenza (A & B) and tells us if you have either strain present. If the test is positive we will get an immediate telemedicine consult and treatment option. Flu symptoms include:

  • Fever or feeling feverish/chills

  • Cough

  • Sore throat

  • Runny or stuffy nose

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Headaches

  • Fatigue (tiredness)

Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults. Anyone can get the flu (even healthy people), and serious problems related to the flu can happen at any age, but some people are at high risk of developing serious flu-related complications if they get sick.

Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)

Even though a UTI is easily distinguishable for most women, and not medically complex to identify or treat, a prescription is still needed for antibiotics. The test allows patients to get a definitive diagnosis via a simple, self-administered test as well as speak with a healthcare professional to receive a prescription. This saves time and money and creates peace of mind. Symptoms of UTI include:

  • A strong, persistent urge to urinate

  • A burning sensation when urinating

  • Passing frequent, small amounts of urine

  • Urine that appears cloudy

  • Urine that appears red, bright pink or cola-colored — a sign of blood in the urine

  • Strong-smelling urine

  • Pelvic pain, in women — especially in the center of the pelvis and around the area of the pubic bone

UTIs may be overlooked or mistaken for other conditions in older adults. Women are at greater risk of developing a UTI than are men. Infection limited to your bladder can be painful and annoying. However, serious consequences can occur if a UTI spreads to your kidneys.

Anemia

Anemia is caused when the body doesn’t produce enough red blood cells, too much blood is lost, or when red blood cells cannot efficiently deliver oxygen throughout the body. Most cases of anemia in chronic disease are mild to moderate. Severity ranges from individual to individual, and individuals experience a variety of symptoms such as:

  • Fatigue and loss of energy

  • Weakness

  • Pale skin

  • Unusually rapid heartbeat

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Shortness of breath or headache

  • Leg cramps

  • Insomnia

  • Chest pain

Diagnosis of anemia in chronic disease begins with the identification of key characteristics, collection of detailed patient history, followed by a blood test to measure hemoglobin levels. There are numerous potential causes of anemia, such as iron deficiency, vitamin B12 deficiency, anemia of chronic disease, aplastic anemia, anemia associated with a bone marrow disease, hemolytic disease, Sickle Cell Anemia, and others.
